La Unión Europea hizo llegar a la Argentina tres alertas por la detección en embarques de trazas de harina de soja con el evento transgénico HB4, que no aprobado aún en el bloque europeo para su comercialización. Los embarques iban a Países Bajos y fueron rechazados.
La soja HB4, fue desarrollada Bioceres y es tolerante a condiciones de estrés hídrico y salinidad. La siembra en Argentina fue aprobada durante el último gobierno de Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, en 2015.
La preocupación del sector llegó tras recibir un mensaje de advertencia atribuído a la cámara de exportadores de granos y derivados, CIARA-CEC, aunque la entidad declinó de hacer comentarios a los medios.
