La visita del presidente de Brasil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva al Instituto Mauá de Tecnología (IMT), este lunes, en São Caetano do Sul (SP), marcó el inicio de una nueva etapa para el programa brasileño de biocombustibles.
Al acompañar las pruebas que evaluarán mezclas más elevadas de biodiésel con diésel, Lula reafirmó el compromiso del Gobierno Federal con la implementación de la Ley Combustible del Futuro y destacó que Brasil tiene condiciones para liderar la transición energética mundial.
Durante la visita, el presidente afirmó que Brasil puede demostrar al mundo que es posible construir un futuro con menor dependencia de los combustibles fósiles y destacó que el inicio de las pruebas de 300 horas representa un hito para la evolución del biodiésel en el país.
Esta nueva etapa evaluará el desempeño de los motores con porcentajes más elevados de biodiésel y proporcionará la base técnica para las próximas decisiones sobre la ampliación de la mezcla obligatoria, del actual 15% a un rango de 16% a 25%.
Según APROBIO, la combinación de la conclusión de las pruebas, el inicio de las evaluaciones de 300 horas y el perfeccionamiento del marco regulatorio crean un escenario favorable para que Brasil avance, de manera segura y basada en evidencia, en la ampliación de la participación del biodiésel en su matriz energética, fortaleciendo la industria nacional, reduciendo la dependencia del diésel importado y ampliando la contribución del país a la descarbonización del transporte.
