Brazilian soybean harvest almost finished

     Porto Alegre, May 18 2021 – The harvest of the new Brazilian soybean crop is practically finished in the country. With more than 98% of areas already covered, there are only a few crops to be reaped in Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and in some states in the North and Northeast regions.

     According to a survey carried out by SAFRAS & Mercado, until May 14, 98.3% of a total sown area of 38.65 million hectares were reaped, equivalent to approximately 37.98 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 96.7%.

     In Rio Grande do Sul, out of a total sown area of 6.08 million hectares, 95% were reaped, or approximately 5.78 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 89%. In the same period last year, 100% had already been reaped.

     In Bahia, out of a total sown area of 1.7 million hectares, 99% were reaped, or approximately 1.68 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 98%.
