The harvest of the new Brazilian soybean season had little progress last week. The moisture registered in much of the central strip of the country prevented a better advance of machines. Yet, the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, and Goiás have already had some progress.
According to a survey conducted until January 31 by SAFRAS & Mercado, 6.6% of a total sown area of 37.032 million tons were reaped, equivalent to roughly 2.43 million hectares. In the previous week, the index was 4.0%. In the same period last year, 16.9% of the area had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 8.0%.
