Porto Alegre, May 8th, 2025 – The Brazilian soybean harvest is in its final stretch, reaching approximately 97.8% of the total area expected for the season. Average yields remain excellent, with few areas still to be reaped in the country.

According to a survey by Safras & Mercado, as of May 2, approximately 97.8% of the cultivated area had been reaped, surpassing the 95.6% registered in the same period in 2024 and also the five-year average, which is 96.6%.

In Rio Grande do Sul, approximately 90% of the planted area (estimated at 6.87 mln hectares) has already been reaped, which accounts for approximately 6.18 mln hectares. In the same period of the previous year, the index was 75%, while the historical average for the state is around 83.3%.

In the Midwest and Southeast regions, work is almost complete. However, there are still areas to be finished in the Northeast, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. In Santa Catarina, the harvest has reached 98% of the estimated area. In the states of MATOPIBA (Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí, and Bahia), work is progressing at an advanced pace, with more than 96% of the crops reaped, except in Piauí, where the rate is around 93%.

The climate maps indicate that, between May 4 and 10, Brazil will face a period of drier and more stable weather in practically the entire national territory, except for Rio Grande do Sul, where significant volumes of rain are expected. This instability in the state of Rio Grande do Sul may continue to affect the harvest progress and the production flow in some regions.

In the period from May 11 to 17, the trend is for the weather to remain dry and stable in most states. In the south of the country, especially in Rio Grande do Sul, rainfall is expected to decrease, favoring a scenario of lower rainfall and more regular weather. This change could represent an important window for the harvest advance and field activities that are still pending completion in the state.
