Obviously, we are still behind the same period last year and the historical average. However, last week’s progress was positive, and yields remain with a good outlook. Some regions, such as Paraná, Mato Grosso, and others, are nearing the end of planting, while states such as Goiás have progressed better thanks to recent rains.

To date, planting has reached approximately 79.8% of the total estimated area for soybeans. In the previous week, the rate was 69.6%, while in the same period of 2024 it was 85.6%. The five-year average is 84.4%, indicating a delay of more than 10%. For soybeans, this may slightly reduce yield potential, although the overall impact is limited, with little replanting in total, as producers waited for the rain to arrive. In Matopiba, there has been good rainfall recently, reaching Tocantins and Bahia, which should speed up the harvest, considering that weather maps indicate favorable conditions until the end of the month and early December in these areas.

Short-term climate maps (November 21-27) show good rainfall volumes in the north, northeast, and center of the country, with a higher concentration in northern Mato Grosso. Volumes should vary between 50 and 70 mm, especially favoring Tocantins, Bahia, and Piauí. Good moisture levels will contribute to boosting soybean development in delayed areas.

Between November 28 and December 4, good rainfall is still expected, albeit in smaller volumes (between 30 and 40 mm). However, rainfall will be more regular and better distributed in almost all regions, except for the South, which should remain dry. With this rainfall for the next two weeks, soil moisture is expected to improve, and the heat concentrated in the center of the country should recede, with thermal anomalies approaching the average.

In Mato Grosso, out of a total area estimated at 12.83 million hectares, about 99% have already been sown — equivalent to approximately 12.702 million hectares. In the previous week, the rate was 96%. In the same period last year, the index was 99%, while the five-year average is 99.4%.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, approximately 96% of the area has already been sown, which represents about 4.464 million hectares. In the previous week, the rate was 90%. In the same period of 2024, the progress was 100%, while the five-year average for this time of year is 99.4%.

In Goiás, approximately 86% of the total estimated area of 4.93 million hectares has already been sown. In 2024, the rate was 96%, while the five-year average is 94.4%. Despite the delay, the weekly progress was steady, benefiting from good rains in the region.

In Minas Gerais, the Harvest is nearly 77% complete, out of a total expected area of 2.41 million hectares. In 2024, during the same period, about 90% had been sown, while the five-year average is approximately 88.4%.

Despite the delays, the situation should not significantly penalize the Brazilian crop. With the return of recent rains in the North and good weather forecasts for the country in the coming few weeks, the outlook remains positive. Another significant crop is expected in 2026, with the potential to set a new record for soybeans.

Safras News

Porto Alegre, November 25th, 2025 – The planting pace is accelerating due to the arrival of better rains in the Central-North and Northeast regions (Matopiba), which has boosted fieldwork.
