The drier climate helped speed up work, especially in Rondônia. SAFRAS’ weekly monitoring indicates that up to May 16, Brazil reaped 9% of the 23/24 crop, which corresponds to an increase of 4% over last week. Work is slightly below the same period last year, when growers had reaped 10% of the crop and below the five-year average, which also revolves around 10% of production.

The weather must remain beneficial for the harvest progress. Climate maps indicate low moisture for the next two weeks of May. And the picture should also extend to the first week of June, according to Rural Clima. There is a chance of a little stronger rain in the last week of May in the north of Paraná. And a slight increase in moisture in the Matas de Minas region and Espírito Santo. The general picture is expected to remain favorable to the progress of the coffee harvest and drying.

The arabica harvest remains timid at the beginning of the work and comprises only 4% of the crop, against 5% at the same time last year and the five-year average for the period.
