\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Porto Alegre, May 26 2021 \u2013 The harvest of the 2020\/21 soybean crop in Brazil has come to an end and with very positive results. According to the most recent survey by SAFRAS & Mercado, released on May 21, Brazilian production surpassed 137 million tons, consolidating a new record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brazilian soybean production in 2020\/21 must total 137.19 million tons, up 7.9% from the previous season, which stood at 127.178 million tons. In March, when the previous report was released, the projection was 134.09 million tons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the harvest practically completed, SAFRAS indicates an increase of 4% in the area, estimated at 38.93 million hectares. In 2019\/20, planting occupied 37.43 million hectares. The survey indicates that the average productivity must go from 3,415 to 3,542 kilogram per hectare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The completion of the harvest revealed a great average productivity in the main growing states and in all regions of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite delays in the planting and harvest in some states, the predominance of a favorable climate since early 2021 has allowed optimal crop development in most states this season, with only a few regional minor problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Midwest and Southeast regions stand out again with high average productivity in all states. In the Midwest, although average productivity of Mato Grosso was below the previous season, the strong expansion of area guaranteed a new record production. In the Southeast, the states of Minas Gerais and S\u00e3o Paulo again had a great large average productivity, which made the region get the best position of the country in terms of productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the South, the highlight is the excellent average productivity registered in Rio Grande do Sul, which guaranteed a great recovery from the sharp losses in the 2019\/20 crop, even in a La Ni\u00f1a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Northeast, the highlight is the state of Bahia, which registered the highest average productivity in its history and the highest of the country. In the North, the highlight was the expansion of area, which even without very high productivity in the main states ensured a large production for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These conditions resulted in another record in Brazilian soybean production, increasingly consolidating the country as the world\u2019s largest producer and exporter of the oilseed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
