Porto Alegre, December 22, 2020 \u2013 The planting of the new Brazilian soybean crop\nprogressed to the final stretch. With the sowing already closed in the Midwest\nand Southeast states, the work is yet to be finished only in areas of Rio\nGrande do Sul, Santa Catarina and in the states of the North and Northeast\nregions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a survey conducted by SAFRAS\n& Mercado, until December 18, Brazilian growers sowed 95.7% of the total\narea expected for the country. The percentage is equivalent to around 36.77\nmillion hectares sown, out of a total of 38.415 million hectares estimated for\nplanting in the country. In the previous week, the index was 93.5%. In the same\nperiod of the previous year, the percentage reached 96.2%, while the five-year\naverage for the period is 96.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Rio Grande do Sul, out of a total area\nestimated at 6.08 million hectares, 89% were sown, or nearly 5.41 million\nhectares. In the previous week, the index was 81%, while in the same period\nlast year it reached 93%. The five-year average for this time of year is 95.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Paran\u00e1, 100% of the area destined for\nsoybeans were sown, or approximately 5.6 million hectares. In the previous\nweek, the index was 100%. In the same period last year, the percentage reached\n100%, while the five-year average is 99.8% for the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Mato Grosso, out of a total expected\narea of 10.3 million hectares, 100% were sown. In the previous week, the index was\n100%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 100%. The\nfive-year average for the period is 99.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Mato Grosso do Sul, out\nof a total area estimated at 3.25 million hectares, 100% were sown. In the\nprevious week, the index was 100%. In the same period last year, the percentage\nwas 100%, while the five-year average for the period is 100%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Goi\u00e1s,\nout of a total expected area of 3.795 million hectares, 100% were sown. In the\nprevious week, the index was\n97%, while in the same period last year the percentage was 100%. The five-year\naverage for the period is 99.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In S\u00e3o Paulo, out of a total\narea estimated at 1.08 million hectares, 100% were sown. In the previous week,\nthe index was 99%, while in the\nsame period of the previous year the percentage was 100%. The five-year average\nfor the period is 99.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Minas\nGerais, out of a total area estimated at 1.82 million hectares, 100% were sown.\nIn the previous week, the index was\n99%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 100%, while the five-year\naverage for the period is 99.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Bahia, out of a total area estimated at 1.67 million\nhectares, 100% were sown. In the previous week, the index was 99%, while in the same period last year the percentage\nwas 98%. The five-year average for the period is 96.2%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Santa\nCatarina, the planting is 99% complete of an expected total area of 750\nthousand hectares, which is equivalent to nearly 743 thousand hectares. In the\nprevious week, the index was\n95%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 100%, while\nthe average for the period is 99.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Weather\nforecasts point to rain in practically all growing states in the period between\nDecember 18 and 24. Between December 25 and 31, most states in the central\nstrip of the country must receive large volumes of rainfall. In Rio Grande do Sul and Bahia,\nlittle moisture is expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
