The forecast and confirmation of the arrival of a period of\nhigher moisture, mainly in the Midwest and Southeast of the country, encouraged\ngrowers. There was a reasonable recovery, but the pace remains well below the\nnormal average for this time of year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; According to a survey conducted by SAFRAS\n&amp; Mercado, until October 23, Brazilian growers sowed 16.3% of the total\narea expected for the country. The percentage is equivalent to nearly 6.180\nmillion hectares sown, out of a total of 37.940 million hectares estimated for\nplanting in the country. In the previous week, the percentage was 6.1%. In the\nsame period of the previous year, the percentage reached 30.8%, while the five-year\naverage for the period is 27.7%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nParan\u00e1, 35% of the area destined for soybeans were sown. The percentage is\nequivalent to around 1.96 million hectares planted, out of a total of 5.6\nmillion hectares estimated for the state. In the previous week, the percentage\nwas 20%. In the same period last year, the index reached 48%, while the five-year\naverage is 53% for the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nMato Grosso, out of an expected total area of 10.21 million hectares, 26% have\nalready been sown, equivalent to nearly 2.655 million hectares. In the previous\nweek, the percentage was 8%. In the same period of the previous year, the index\nwas 65%. The five-year average for the period is 45.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nMato Grosso do Sul, out of a total area estimated at 3.08 million hectares, 18%\nhave already been sown, equivalent to roughly 554 thousand hectares. In the\nprevious week, the percentage was 4%. In the same period last year, the\npercentage was 25%, while the five-year average for the period is 38%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nGoi\u00e1s, out of a total expected area of 3.745 million hectares, 12% were sown,\nor nearly 449 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 5%,\nwhile in the same period last year the index was 25%. The five-year average for\nthe period is 24.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nS\u00e3o Paulo, out of a total area estimated at 1.080 million hectares, 5% were\nsown, or approximately 54 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the\npercentage was 2%, while in the same period of the previous year the percentage\nwas 9%. The five-year average for the period is 11.9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nMinas Gerais, out of a total area estimated at 1.745 million hectares, 8% were\nsown, or nearly 140 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was\n3%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 18%, while the five-year\naverage for the period is 15.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nSanta Catarina, the planting is 1% complete of an expected total area of 755\nthousand hectares, which is equivalent to approximately 8 thousand hectares. In\nthe previous week, the percentage was 0%. In the same period of the previous\nyear, the percentage was 10%, while the average for the period is 11.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The\nweather forecasts point to another week with great moisture in practically all\nthe growing regions in the period between October 23 and 29, with highlight on\nthe great rainfall expected for parts of Paran\u00e1, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas\nGerais, Goi\u00e1s, and Mato Grosso. The greater volume of precipitation may even\nprevent a better advance of the work in the period, but it will be quite\nfavorable for the crops already sown and for the soil of those to be planted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In\nthe period between October 30 and November 5, forecasts point to little or no moisture\nin the Southern region and the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, and S\u00e3o Paulo.
