The review was\nreleased by SAFRAS &amp; Mercado on May 8. On March 27, date of the previous\nreport, the projection was at 124.188 million tons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the harvest\npractically ended, SAFRAS indicates an increase of 2.1% in the area, which\nstood at 37.152 million hectares. In 2018\/19, the planting occupied 36.384\nmillion hectares. The survey indicates that average productivity must increase\nfrom 3,296 to 3,371\n kilograms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this May\nupdate, only minor adjustments were made for the average productivity registered\nin the states of the South, Southeast and Midwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the South, albeit\non a much lower scale than that registered in Rio Grande do Sul, the lack of rain also\nbrought problems to part of Santa Catarina\u2019s plantations this season. Thus, the\naverage productivity of the state was revised downwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Southeast\nand Midwest, the completion of the harvest\nrevealed an even better yield than that previously estimated in the states of\nMato Grosso and Goi\u00e1s. Such adjustments ended up compensating the losses in\nSanta Catarina, resulting in a small increase in the production estimate of the\ncountry compared to March.
