Porto Alegre, February 1, 2022 – The harvest of the new Brazilian soybean crop had a good week in most states that already have machines on the field. Despite the record of some more voluminous rains in sections of the Midwest and Southeast regions, the harvest advanced strongly in the country.
According to a survey carried out by SAFRAS & Mercado, until January 28, 31% of a total sown area of 40.8 mln hectares are reaped, equivalent to approximately 4.63 mln hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 5.0%. In the same period of the previous year, the index was 1.4%. The five-year average for the period is 5.5%.
In Paraná, out of a total area of 5.65 mln hectares sown, 13% were reaped, or the equivalent of roughly 735 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 8%. In the same period last year, the index was 0.5%, while the five-year average for the period is 4.8%.
In Mato Grosso, out of a total sown area of 10.95 mln hectares, 31% were reaped, or approximately 3.395 mln hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 13%. In the same period last year, the index was 5%. The five-year average for the period is 15.6%.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, out of a total sown area of 3.8 mln hectares, 7% were reaped, or nearly 266 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 2%. In the same period of the previous one, the percentage was 0%, while the five-year average for the period is 3.4%.
In Goiás, out of a total sown area of 3.94 mln hectares, 3.5% were reaped, or roughly 138 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 1.5%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 0%. The five-year average for the period is 2.2%.
In São Paulo, out of a total sown area of 1.22 mln hectares, 3% were reaped, or approximately 37 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 1%. In the same period last year, the index was 0%, while the five-year average for the period is 0.8%.
In Minas Gerais, out of a total area estimated at 2 mln hectares, 2% were reaped, or approximately 60 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 1%. In the same period of the previous year, the index was 0.2%. The five-year average for the period is 1.9%.
In Bahia, out of a total sown area of 1.72 mln hectares, 0.5% were reaped, or approximately 9 thousand hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 0.1%. In the same period last year, the index was 0%. The five-year average for the period is 0%.
Climate maps point to the return of a moister climate over the Midwest, Southeast, North and Northeast regions in the period between January 30 and February 5, with higher accumulations expected. This fact can prevent a better advance of machines. In the south, some rains are expected, but at lower levels.
In the period between February 5 and 12, the maps point to a scenario similar to the previous week, but with less moisture in Rio Grande do Sul.
