Porto Alegre, April 6, 202 – The harvest of the new Brazilian soybean crop continues to advance in the country but remains behind the five-year average.
In the South, the drier climate allowed for some recovery in the pace of work, with emphasis on the progress in Rio Grande do Sul.
In the Southeast and Midwest regions, work is advancing to the last areas, while in Mato Grosso the harvest is virtually over.
According to research carried out by SAFRAS & Mercado, up to April 6, 80.8% were reaped from a total sown area of 44.069 mln ha, equivalent to approximately 35.606 mln ha. The previous week, the percentage was 74.4%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage was 85.5%. The five-year average for the period is 82.6%.
In Rio Grande do Sul, out of a total sown area of 6.57 mln ha, 19% were reaped, or approximately 1.248 mln ha. The previous week, the percentage was 9%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 35%. The five-year average for the period is 44.6%.
In Paraná, from a total area of 5.78 mln ha sown, 92% were reaped, or the equivalent of approximately 5.318 mln ha. The previous week, the percentage was 81%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 92%, while the five-year average for the period is 92.4%.
In Mato Grosso, from a total sown area of 11.98 mln ha, 100% were reaped. The previous week, the percentage was 99%. In the same period last year, the percentage was 100%. The five-year average for the period is 99.6%.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, 99% were reaped, or the equivalent of approximately 4.079 mln ha of a total sown area of 4.12 mln ha. The previous week, the percentage was 95%. In the same period last year, 100% had been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 99.8%.
In Goiás, from a total sown area of 4.46 mln ha, 96% were reaped, or the equivalent of approximately 4.282 mln ha. The previous week, the percentage was 92%. In the same period last year, 98% had been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 96.8%.
In São Paulo, out of a total sown area of 1.35 mln ha, 86% were reaped, or the equivalent of approximately 1.161 mln ha. The week earlier, the percentage was 73%. In the same period last year, 96% had been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 95.2%.
In Minas Gerais, 92% were reaped, or the equivalent of approximately 1.932 mln ha of a total sown area of 2.1 mln ha. The previous week, the percentage was 82%. In the same period last year, 98% had been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 92.6%.
In Bahia, out of a total sown area of 1.95 mln ha, 75% were reaped, or approximately 1.463 mln ha. The previous week, the percentage was 65%. In the same period of the previous year, 94% had been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 54.8%.
Weather maps now point to a period of low moisture in the states of the South and Northeast, besides the state of Mato Grosso do Sul between April 6 and 12. In the Southeast and the other states of the Midwest region, more significant precipitation is expected, as well as in the North region.
In the period between April 13 and 19, moisture will be reduced in most states, except for part of the states in the North region, which is expected to receive heavy rainfall.
