Porto Alegre, May 3 2021 – The Brazilian soybean harvest had a good evolution last week and advanced to the last areas to be reaped in the country. The little moist climate registered in most of the country allowed a good advance of machines and the completion of the harvest in the states of the Southeast and Midwest regions. In the South, a few areas are to be reaped in Rio Grande do Sul (albeit the state average remains below the normal average for this time of year) and Santa Catarina. In the North, the state of Pará also has some delay, and the moister climate prevented a better advance of agricultural machines last week.
According to a survey conducted by SAFRAS & Mercado, until April 30, 95.1% of a total sown area of 38.65 million hectares were reaped, equivalent to approximately 36.74 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 91.3%. In the same period last year, 97.6% of the area had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 96.7%.
In Rio Grande do Sul, out of a total sown area of 6.08 million hectares, 81% were reaped, or approximately 4.93 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 65%. In the same period of the previous year, 98% had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 91.8%.
In Paraná, from a total area of 5.6 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 100%. In the same period last year, 100% were already reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 99.6%.
In Mato Grosso, out of a total sown area of 10.3 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 100%. In the same period last year, 100% had already been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 100%.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, from a total sown area of 3.25 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 100%. In the same period of the previous year, 100% had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 100%.
In Goiás, out of a total sown area of 3.795 million hectares, 10% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 99%. In the same period last year, 100% had already been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 100%.
In São Paulo, out of a total sown area of 1.16 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 99%. In the same period of the previous year, 100% had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 100%.
In Minas Gerais, out of a total area estimated at 1.82 million hectares, 100% were reaped. In the previous week, the percentage was 99%. In the same period of the previous year, the percentage reaped reached 100%. The five-year average for the period is 99.6%.
In Bahia, out of a total sown area of 1.7 million hectares, 95% were reaped, or approximately 1.62 million hectares. In the previous week, the percentage was 90%. In the same period last year, 91% had already been reaped. The five-year average for the period is 90%.
Weather forecasts show this week will have low moisture in most of the country, including the North and Northeast regions. In Rio Grande do Sul, on the other hand, scattered rainfall may hinder the advance of machines in some micro-regions.
