Porto Alegre, November 5, 2020 – The planting of the new Brazilian soybean crop had a strong advance between October 23 and 30. The maintenance of reasonable moisture forecasts for the states in the central strip of the country encouraged growers to keep working night and day, which resulted in a great recovery from accumulated delays.

According to a survey conducted by SAFRAS & Mercado, until October 30, Brazilian growers sowed 35% of the total area expected for the country. The percentage is equivalent to nearly 13.418 million hectares sown, out of a total of 38.325 million hectares estimated for planting in the country. In the previous week, the percentage was 16.3%.      Weather forecasts point to a week of great rainfall accumulated in the states of Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso, and the North and Northeast regions in the period between October 30 and November 5, which will probably prevent the maintenance of the good pace of sowing in the previous week. The other states in the Midwest, Southeast, and South, on the other hand, will receive little or no moisture, favoring the planting.
