Porto Alegre, June 16, 2023 – The harvest is starting to pick up pace in Brazil, again favored by dry climate and the presence of arabica growers on the field. SAFRAS’ weekly monitoring indicates that up to  June 13, Brazil reaped 33% of the 23/24 crop, which corresponds to an increase of 7% compared to last week. Work exceeds the same time last year, when growers had reaped 28% of the crop, and are slightly below the five-year average, with 35% of production reaped.

The arabica harvest is 25% complete, against 21% in the same period last year and 26% on the five-year average. Conillon is 49% complete, above the 42% at the same time last year but still below the 52% five-year average.

While the harvest has accelerated, processing has been slow, and growers are delaying taking the product to trading regions. The profile of the arabica crop continues to be positive, with the production result bringing a good surprise to growers. In the case of conillon, the sign is a worse-than-expected result. Climate maps indicate rainfall over the week in coffee-growing areas in Brazil, which should disrupt the coffee harvest and drying. Dry weather should prevail again in the week starting on June 22.
