The harvest for the new Brazilian soybean season advanced at a strong pace past week. The low level of rainfall registered in most growing states last week allowed a good progress in the harvest of the country, recovering a good part of the accumulated delay. Highlight on the state of Mato Grosso, which already has a harvest rate above the normal average for this period of the year.

According to a survey carried out until February 7 by SAFRAS & Mercado, 15.0% of a total sown area of 37.072 million tons were reaped, equivalent to nearly 5.58 million hectares. In the previous week, the index was 6.6%. In the same period last year, 23.7% of the area had already been reaped, while the five-year average for the period is 12.7%.
