Brazilian coffee exports grow 16% in 20/21 – Secex

Links deste artigo

Brazil shipped 3.45 mln bags last May, including green and soluble coffee. This corresponds to a decline of 9% from the previous month and 13% from the same month last year, according to Secex. Even so, the volume shipped in the first 11 months of the 20/21 business season (Jul/May) reaches 43.3 mln 60-kg bags, up 16% from the same period last season.

Export revenue reaches USD 5.46 bln, up 17% from the same period of the last business season. The numbers differ from data from Cecafé, which indicated shipments throughout May of only 2.62 mln bags, down 20% from the previous month, justified by logistical problems and the issuance of ICO’s origin certificates.

SAFRAS projects shipments for the 20/21 business season with 46.85 mln bags, potentially leaving around 3.55 mln bags shipped in the last month of June. The confirmation of this shipped volume would increase the projected record for the 20/21 business cycle. The record production reaped in 2020, high dollar, and soaring international prices since the end of last year explain this excellent external performance.
